What is Chiropractic Medicine?

Chiropractic medicine is a natural and holistic healing approach allowing your own body to heal itself from various injuries and health conditions. Chiropractic care is based on applying scientific fact to stimulating your body's own remarkable resources. Your brain, spinal cord, and nerves control these important self-regulating and self-healing functions. When the nervous system is impaired through illness, injury or stress it can cause tissues and organs throughout the body to function poorly. Chiropractic care utilizes a multi-tiered approach consisting of "the Chiropractic Adjustment" and gentle Mobilizations, along with: Soft tissue massage, Physiotherapy, Nutritional Guidance to help manage disease and corrective supports, which allow for optimal postural alignment. This approach to holistic healing helps the body to heal itself.

What is a Chiropractic Adjustment?

When performing an adjustment/manipulation your Chiropractor applies a specifically directed force to a joint that is not moving properly. Restoring normal motion to a joint can allow bones to gradually return to a more proper position and allows your body to function, as it should. This safe, natural approach to removing interferences with spinal and nervous system function can improve overall health. Every gland, organ, and body tissue needs appropriate nerve supply or some form of stimulation from the nervous system to function properly.

There are many misconceptions about the chiropractic profession. Some do not believe that preventative care is the answer, and it may not be for the traditionally based patient.
